Emergency Thermal Blankets

Emergency thermal blankets are first aid blankets that are designed to trap body heat and encourage a quick rise in body temperature. These are often used to treat individuals who are losing heat due to hypothermia or shock.  These are designed with both wilderness survival and emergency wilderness first aid in mind, so they're built to save lives and built to function regardless of the situation and pressure. Thermal blankets have been used for many other uses, like insulating house plants during power outages, or larger pool covers are sometimes designed like a thermal blanket to help keep the water warm even when the outside temperature drops like a rock.  If you're going to have a winter survival kit for travel, or one for home, you want to always make sure to have a thermal emergency blanket included, because those will help people maintain their body heat as well or better than anything else out there.

There is a wide variety of thermal blankets available to the public, and many people are surprised by the appearance most have. The silver side might make it look like some flimsy bit of metal cloth from a bad 1970s science fiction movie, but these emergency blankets have saved lives, and will certainly continue to do so in the future, as well. One bit of good news for people on a budget is that a good emergency thermal blanket is not expensive at all. Many basic thermal blankets can be found for less than $12, while even the high end emergency thermal mylar blankets usually come in under $30.  These offer incredible protection from the cold, and other cold based ailments like hypothermia.  Keeping the body's core temperature at a normal level is critical in maintaining good health during trying times and situations.  If you ever read a thermal blanket as being described as a first aid blanket or space blanket, these are different names for the same first aid product.

While it would be nice if mylar thermal space blankets were the end all and be all of winter wilderness survival, there's a lot more that goes into it than that. While no good winter survival kit is complete without a thermal blanket, a good survival kit is obviously going to have a lot more than that going for it. Such kits should have gloves, a flashlight with spare batteries, signal flares, water purification tablets and more...and of course never forget the thermal blankets, but it's not easy to forget those when any place where you need a winter survival kit is probably going to be very cold. By having knowledge from studying up ahead of time before disaster strikes, and by keeping a level head and having a fully equipped emergency winter kit, you will be fully prepared for whatever unfortunate event may occur.
